Welcome to the homepage of Jörg Matysik's research group at the Institute of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Leipzig. The University of Leipzig has been founded in 1409 and has a remarkable history in Natural science.
The group aims for understanding the spin- and photochemistry of natural and artificial photosynthetic systems, of photoreceptors and materials as well as for development and application of optical NMR methods. Furthermore, being aware of the rising global problem of microplastics, we identify, analyse and optimise enzymes able to degenerate PET.
The group just started an own Youtube Channel to provide information on research and teaching. Search for: "AG Matysik at Leipzig University"
ZDF "Plan B" (July 2023): Starting at minute 20:45, our group's polymer recycling is presented (German language). Unfortunately, media cannot avoid to state nonsense as "plastics is extremely bad for the climate". Better: plastics spoiling Nature will be THE problem of the future.
