Welcome!

Welcome to the homepage of Jörg Matysik's research group at the Institute of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Leipzig. The University of Leipzig has been founded in 1409 and has a remarkable history in Natural science.

The group aims for understanding the spin- and photochemistry of natural and artificial photosynthetic systems, of photoreceptors and materials as well as for development and application of optical NMR methods. Furthermore, being aware of the rising global problem of microplastics, we identify, analyse and optimise enzymes able to degenerate PET.

The group just started an own Youtube Channel to provide information on research and teaching. Search for: "AG Matysik at Leipzig University"

Our

TEACHING

Analytik & Spektroskopie

AUFBAU-STUDIUM

Weiterbildung im Beruf & Spezialisierung im Studium. Vorausetzung: BSc in Naturwissenschaft oder Ing.-Wissenschaft.
The HYP*MOL consortium is localized in Leipzig and Chemnitz aiming to unify magnetic resonance, molecular spintronics and spin chemistry to provide more signal in NMR & MRI, more efficiency in Spintronics and more yield in Spin-chemistry.

Our group in the media:

Visit of our lab by the ARD-Mittagsmagazin (May 2024).

Die Tageszeitung (Aug. 2022).
SWR-Wissen (Mai 2022).
Gazetta.PL (Mai 2022).
Tag 24 (Mai 2022).
ARD Alpha (Mai 2022).

Kurzfilm in ARD-Mediathek:
& Interview (Mai 2022).

ZDF "Plan B" (July 2023): Starting at minute 20:45, our group's polymer recycling is presented (German language). Unfortunately, media cannot avoid to state nonsense as "plastics is extremely bad for the climate". Better: plastics spoiling Nature will be THE problem of the future.

Chemical Industry

SUSTAINABLE

In Delitzsch (North of Leipzig), a large Center for the Transformation of Chemistry (CTC) will be established. Idea: Chemical industry, not based on cole (as until 1950) and on petrol (still nowadays) but on recycling of polymers.
